The Department of American Culture and Literature uses an interdisciplinary approach in the study of the United States, its people, and its culture. The Department's diverse international faculty offers classes in American literature, history, film, theater, and poetry. The curriculum also addresses themes in the American experience such as race, ethnicity, and gender. Faculty members work closely with students to develop critical and analytical thinking and to enhance English proficiency and writing skills specific to the interdisciplinary study of the humanities.
