L'objectif du B.Ed. en éducation primaire est de former les enseignants actuels à un niveau élevé afin qu'ils puissent à leur tour enseigner à leurs élèves à un niveau élevé et contribuer positivement à leur école et à leur communauté. L'objectif est en outre de former un nombre si important d'enseignants existants qu'ils aient un impact significatif sur la réalisation des objectifs d'accès et de qualité de l'enseignement primaire décrits dans le MIP-1 (Commission nationale de planification, 2021b) et le NESIP (Gouvernement du Malawi, 2020).

Learning Outcomes
This Bachelor programme is categorised Level 7 in the draft Malawi Higher Education Qualifications Framework with the following general outcomes expected for the level:
Knowledge
Holders of the qualification should be able to demonstrate an understanding of a major discipline with possible areas of specialization in that discipline, including command of the ideas, principles, concepts, chief research methods and problem-solving techniques of the recognized discipline.
Skill
Holders of the qualification should possess critical independent thinking and analysis of the subject matter, and advanced communication with team building and collaborative skills.
Competence
Holders of the qualification should demonstrate knowledge/skill/competence of subject matter in the area of specialization, be able to conduct research, challenge the status quo, bring innovation, and entrepreneurship, communicate properly, have technological literacy and lead a diverse team.
Upon completion of this programme, students will be able to:
- Apply the principles of classroom teaching and management in primary school classes from standard 1 to standard 8 for a range of subjects.
- Interpret the national primary school curriculum.
- Select appropriate content to inform their teaching.
- Adopt innovative teaching approaches to meet the needs of a diverse learner population.
- Develop curricula relevant to a given target student population.
- Apply appropriate assessment tools and techniques to enhance and assess student learning.
- Promote the social, psychological, civic and life-skills development of their pupils.
- Support the efficient and effective management of a school through collaboration with fellow staff members.
- Engage in self-directed learning and continuous professional development.
