This programme is aimed at students who want to create innovative future foods and find solutions to health issues such as obesity or malnutrition. Students learn about the design and production of foods while preserving health benefits within food chemistry, food processing, surface and colloid chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, and food analysis. While aligning to market needs through a strong emphasis on engineering sciences and innovation, the programme uses links to local industry, which means some researchers have converted results into successful enterprises, such as Oatly, Optifreeze and Probi. Graduates have found jobs within the food industry, the public sector, at research institutes and PhD positions.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Food Innovation and Product Design (FIPDes) is a two-year academic programme in the field of food science and product development offered through cooperation between five European universities. Graduates will be able to take on the huge challenges and opportunities in the sector of food innovation, product design and packaging. They will typically either start their own manufacturing or consulting business, find positions either in their country or in a national branch of a major international food brand, or they will return to academia as doctoral students within the food/innovation field.

This programme aims to equip graduates with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in food science and safety (such as food chemistry, nutritional science, microbiology, food engineering, food safety management) that can work in the food-related industry and promote food safety in society. These could help them to perform effectively in the food, nutrition and catering industries and solve problems related to food science and safety. It will also provide students with generic management skills to function effectively as supervisors and managers as they progress in their careers.

The Master of Science in Food Process Engineering prepares students in all aspects relating to food processing, including the engineering principles of food, food process design, food biotechnology, and statistical quality process control. Graduates can accept research positions within the food processing industry or continue their studies in the pursuit of a Ph.D. in a food-related discipline.
